GOALRun the first test described in this guide and record the result for sealing printed fishing lures.

EQUIPMENT

  • FDM printer / slicer
  • Slicer project
  • Calipers or inspection method

MATERIALS

  • Material requires confirmation

STEPS

  • Clean and dry the assembled shell. Inspect seams, ballast plugs and eyelet penetrations under a bright light.
  • Select a coating or adhesive whose manufacturer permits the plastic and cured water exposure. Mix, apply and cure exactly as directed; thin coats help preserve detail.
  • Weigh the fully cured lure, immerse it for a defined interval, dry its outside consistently and reweigh. Repeat longer if no gain is detected.
  • Repair the actual leak location, cure again and repeat the test before fitting exposed hooks and fishing.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • Touch-dry is not necessarily fully cured. Some products soften plastic, remain tacky or are unsuitable for aquatic exposure. A heavy clear coat changes buoyancy. An overnight soak is a useful screen, not proof of indefinite durability.

THINGS TO WATCH FOR

Touch-dry is not necessarily fully cured. Some products soften plastic, remain tacky or are unsuitable for aquatic exposure. A heavy clear coat changes buoyancy. An overnight soak is a useful screen, not proof of indefinite durability.

RESULTKeep coating product, cure time, soak time and weight change in the record. Reject persistent water uptake.
