Tree-trunk and shelf-mushroom isometric art
Translate a tree-trunk and shelf-mushroom illustration into a printable relief or model by deciding which shapes are actual geometry and which are color regions. New modeling workflow; no original mesh or exact palette was recovered.

TECHNICAL NOTES///
Translate a tree-trunk and shelf-mushroom illustration into a printable relief or model by deciding which shapes are actual geometry and which are color regions.
GOALRun the first test described in this guide and record the result for tree-trunk and shelf-mushroom isometric art.
PREPARATION / NOTES
New modeling workflow; no original mesh or exact palette was recovered.
EQUIPMENT
- FDM printer / slicer
- Slicer project
- Calipers or inspection method
MATERIALS
- Material requires confirmation
STEPS
- Choose a flat-backed relief or a freestanding sculpture. Set overall size and the viewing angle before refining bark details.
- Block in the trunk and mushroom caps with broad forms. Thicken delicate cap edges and make each attachment area continuous.
- For a four-color version, allocate the palette before slicing: for example dark bark, light bark, cap color and underside/highlight. Separate bodies or paint regions deliberately.
- Start a PLA detail sample at 0.4 mm nozzle and 0.16 mm layers. Inspect supports under shelves and all color transitions before committing to the full print.
TROUBLESHOOTING
- An isometric illustration is not a watertight mesh. Very fine bark and thin mushroom shelves may disappear or break. Supports can scar visible cap undersides.
THINGS TO WATCH FOR
An isometric illustration is not a watertight mesh. Very fine bark and thin mushroom shelves may disappear or break. Supports can scar visible cap undersides.
RESULTPrint a cropped cap-and-bark sample first and check strength, support removal and color readability.
