Kate Morgan’s Room at the Del
Kate Morgan checked into the Hotel del Coronado under another name in 1892. Later stories place a fleeting presence in her room, where ordinary comforts begin behaving unexpectedly for guests.

The account
The hotel record begins with a guest using a different name. Kate Morgan arrived as Lottie A. Bernard and, five days later, was found dead on an outside staircase on 29 November 1892. The later haunting attaches itself to her former room. The Hotel del Coronado recounts guests feeling unexplained breezes, seeing brief appearances and finding a television switching itself on or off. The scale is almost deliberately modest. A room meant to provide privacy seems to have retained an earlier occupant who still occasionally adjusts the atmosphere.
Following the trail
The Del’s historical timeline supplies the alias, short stay and death, then shifts into the hotel’s ghost tradition and its own book Beautiful Stranger. That change in source material matters: an identified nineteenth-century death does not authenticate modern reports about appliances or apparitions. The timeline does not give a named first witness for the room’s haunting.
Why it stays with us
The alias is the lasting hook. Before the supernatural stories began, the hotel already had a question about who its guest really was. The ghost legend continues that incomplete introduction each time somebody new takes the room.
