EXTRACTED REQUEST: so i just made my pound cake again. i used the same exact recipe and everything but ended up with like 1-1.5 cups of extra batter. same pan and everything. do you have any idea of what i could’ve done? the only thing i can think is that i maybe mixed it more and almost whipped the batter but idk how i would’ve unintentionally done it that much

ASSISTANT RESPONSES:
1. Yeah, this actually can happen, and you’re not crazy 😄 Getting 1–1.5 cups of extra pound-cake batter almost always comes down to air + measurement drift, not the recipe suddenly changing. Let’s break the most likely causes—starting with the one you already suspected.. 1️⃣ Over-mixing / incorporating extra air (very likely) Even without meaning to, it’s easy to add a lot of volume to pound-cake batter. How it happens unintentionally: - Mixing longer at medium speed instead of low - Using a stand mixer vs hand mixing - Creaming butter + sugar longer than usual - Beating eggs in faster than normal 👉 Air doesn’t add weight, but it absolutely adds volume. That alone can account for 1+ extra cups of batter. Tell-t…
