1. Thats a large monster can. Whats your estimate on how much the catfish weighs
2. Is it a blue cat

ASSISTANT RESPONSES:
1. That’s a solid fish 👍 Using the Monster can as a scale (those are about 6.3 inches tall), that catfish looks roughly 30–34 inches long and pretty thick through the body. For a channel/blue cat of that girth: - A 30" fish is usually ~10–12 lbs - A 34" fish can push ~15–18 lbs depending on how fat it is Yours looks well-fed, so I’d put it at: 👉 ~14–17 lbs, with a good chance it’s right around 15 lbs If you want a tighter estimate, tell me: - exact length (nose to tail) - girth (around the belly) There’s a pretty accurate formula we can run that’ll get you within about a pound.
2. Yep — that’s a blue catfish 👍 Here’s what gives it away: - Color: That uniform bluish/gray (no spots) is classic blue cat. Channel cats usually have spots, especially at that size. - Body shape: More long and thick/torpedo-shaped, not as slender as a channel. - Head: Broader, flatter head compared to a channel cat. - Anal fin: Looks fairly straight-edged and longer (blues have 30+ rays vs channels ~24–29). Given where you’re fishing (Lake Perry area), blues are definitely around and can get big — and that one’s a nice one. 👉 Short answer: 100% a blue cat 👉 Bonus: that size range fits blues perfectly too If you start catching more like that, you’re sitting on a good spot.
